NUJS'17 alumnus admitted to Cambridge and received the Pratibha Singh Cambridge Trust Scholarship.

Mr. Avantik Tamta from the Class of 2017 was admitted to the LL.M programme of Faculty of Law, Cambridge University. The cherry on the cake, as Mr. Tamta would describe it, was his achievement of receiving the Pratibha Singh Cambridge Trust Scholarship.

Considered to be one of the best law universities in the world, Faculty of Law, Cambridge University offers immense opportunities to make a difference in the world. This is done by challenging the brightest students by placing them in an intellectually rigorous environment. He starts in October.

At NUJS, Mr. Avantik Tamta was involved in IDIA (Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access), an initiative that was started by Late Prof. (Dr.) Shamnad Basheer. He attributes his devotion to IDIA as arising from witnessing the passion and humanity of Prof. (Dr.) Basheer. He was involved as a volunteer of Legal Aid Society, and also started Promotion of Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) in NUJS.

He credits the patience and humility of his professors in NUJS for much of the success in his journey. He is particularly thankful to Prof. Kumarjit Ray and Prof. Paramita Dasgupta for his acceptance to Cambridge.

We take immense pride in his achievements and wish him the very best for his journey in Cambridge, which he described as "a beginning to explore unchartered territories in law to build an innovatively equal India".
