NUJS wins the 3rd Vis East Young International Mediation Competition

In one of the biggest mediation achievements of this year, a University team comprising of Aarushi Bansal, Suchisubhra Sarkar and Pratibha Kedia has won the annual Vis East Young International Mediation Competition held in Hong Kong this month between 3rd to 8th July, 2017.

The Young International Mediation Competition is an international mediation competition for students to learn and develop skills in a realistic situation, acting as both counsel and as a mediator. Organised by the Vis East Moot Foundation, the YIMC, is unique in that it begins with two days of mediation training and it includes competitions for both counsel teams and student mediators.

Problems are based on Vis Moot cases from past years, all of which involve a problem where the UNCITRAL Convention on International Sale of Goods applies. The aim of the YIMC is for students to learn and develop skills in a realistic situation, acting as both counsel and as a mediator.

Apart from the winning trophy, the team from NUJS also won the Best Mediation Counsel with the winning spot being bagged by Suchisubhra Sarkar.

Earlier this year, University team comprising of Saniya Mirani, Mahima Cholera, Namrata Sadhnani and Pruthvi Jasani had also won the Willem C Vis East International Arbitration Moot. With this achievement, NUJS has secured victory in both the competitive events organised by the Vis East Moot Foundation in a single year.

We congratulate all the members of the winning team for this phenomenal achievement and also the ADR Society for what has been the biggest breakthrough in mediation competitions this year!
