In one of the biggest mooting achievements of this year, the University team comprising of Saniya Mirani, Mahima Cholera, Namrata Sadhnani and Pruthvi Jasani has won the annual Willem C. Vis East International Commercial Arbitration Moot held in Hong Kong this year from 26th March to 2nd April, 2017.

The Willem C. Vis East International Commercial Arbitration Moot is a international moot court competition for law students from all countries. It runs in parallel with the Willem C Vis Moot in Vienna, and is based on the same ideals, using the same problem and substantially identical Rules. The goal of the Vis Arbitral Moots is to foster the study of international commercial law and arbitration for resolution of international business disputes through its application to a concrete problem of a client and to train law leaders of tomorrow in methods of alternative dispute resolution. The competition limits the number of participating teams to 117 and sees various reputed universities and law schools around the world compete for the coveted trophy.

This year, in an unprecedented winning streak at the international stage, NUJS beat teams from Harvard Law School, Bond University, Deakin University, Freiburg University and Singapore Management University (School of Law) to reach the ultimate round. The finals match-up was between two Indian teams- NUJS Kolkata and NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad.

We congratulate all the members of the winning team for this phenomenal achievement and also the Moot Court Society for what has been an absolutely great year at mooting!
