NUJS student awarded the LAMP fellowship

In a brilliant achievement in the public policy front, Nikhil Iyer from the Class of 2019 has been awarded the prestigious Legislative Assistants to Members of Parliament (LAMP) Fellowship by the PRS Legislative Research, India.

The LAMP Fellowship provides an opportunity to be mentored by a Member of Parliament for a period of 10-11 months, subject to the Parliamentary calendar. During the course of the Fellowship, the Fellows get the opportunity to engage with experts from diverse sectors and understand important policy and development issues of the country. The Fellow's primary task involves providing research support to the Member of Parliament (MP) that she/he is assigned to. A significant amount of research the LAMP Fellow undertakes is Parliament related, such as inputs for bills, parliamentary questions, policy discussions and standing committee meetings. LAMP Fellows also provide background research for the conferences and media events MPs attend in their official capacity.(Source: PRS India) When asked about how he feels about being awarded the fellowship and what he looks forward to, Nikhil mentioned that "I'm extremely glad to have been selected for the LAMP Fellowship! The Fellowship is a great opportunity to work closely with Parliamentary functionaries, and understand the law making process in India. I also look forward to learn from public policy experts, and broaden my outlook towards public policy challenges in the country." We take immense pride in congratuling him on this feat and wishing him the very best.
