NUJS organised the First Prof. N. R. Madhava Menon Legal Conclave.

NUJS conducted the first Prof. N. R. Madhava Menon Legal Conclave, 2020, on the 1st and 2nd of February, 2020. The Conclave was held in the memory of the Founder-Vice-Chancellor of NUJS, and recent Padma Bhushan Awardee, Prof. (Dr) Madhava Menon. The first day of the Conclave was held at ITC Sonar and the second day was held in the NUJS Campus.

Prof. Menon was a trailblazer and a legal luminary. He conceptualised the idea of National Law Universities and the integrated law course of 5 years. In doing so, he laid the foundation of holistic legal education, which was a necessity for the nation. He impacted many lives with his vision, ideas, and actions. It was to continue this legacy that the Conclave was organised with the motto "The man never retired and so shouldn't his legacy".

The Conclave saw participation from stalwarts from different domains like industry, academia, the Bar, the Bench, among others. All of them had a connection to Prof. Menon, through his presence or his ideas. Many anecdotes and personal accounts mentioned in the Conclave revealed a man who many never met but only knew of and were inspired by.

The various panels saw engaging and inspired deliberation, discussion, and debates, and brought to the fore various issues revolving around the theme "Grounding Constitutionalism in Legal Education: Emerging Issues and Challenges".
