It gives us great pleasure to announce that the National University of Juridical Sciences successfully hosted the first edition of the CCI-NUJS National Moot Court Competition this weekend between 15th-17th December.
The event conceptualised by the Competition Commission of India, was hosted in collaboration with NUJS with the help of the Moot Court Society (MCS) and the Society for International Trade and Competition Law (SITC). The objective of the competition was to foster learning and development in the field of competition law and student advocacy, by exposing students to experienced practitioners and academicians in the field. It was a part of the Commission's mission to to undertake competition advocacy, create public awareness and impart training on competition issues. The event saw all the top fifteen tier one law schools competing against each other across five intensive rounds. The problem, set within the contours of competition law, was set by Mr. Pratik Dutta.
The finals was a match between National Law School of India University (NLSIU) and Jindal Global Law School (JGLS). While NLS bagged the winning trophy and a cash prize of INR 45,000, JGLS emerged as the runner up team winning INR 30,000 and also bagging the award for the Best Memorial worth INR 15,000. The award for the Best Speaker was won by Mr. Sanjeev K. from the School of Law, Christ University, who was also awarded a cash prize of INR 10,000.
The Moot Court Society (MCS) and the Society for International Trade and Competition Law (SITC) sincerely thank the hon'ble Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr.) P. Ishwara Bhat, faculty advisors Dr. Shameek Sen and Dr. Tilottama Raychaudhuri for their immense help and support in hosting the competition. They also express their gratitude to the excellent team of volunteers who worked tirelessly to make the event a grand success.
