It gives us immense pleasure in celebrating the first anniversary of the NUJS-IDIA Prof. (Dr.) Shamnad Basheer Accessibility Lab. We are further elated to announce that on this occasion, Student Juridical Association (SJA) and IDIA West Bengal Chapter, have decided to collaborate to create an open access platform in the Lab. This platform shall allow Specially Abled Students from other law schools to derive the benefit of the Lab in an era of digital learning.
The IDIA Accessibility Lab in NUJS was inaugurated on February 10, 2020, to provide an enabling environment for Specially Abled Students. With the ideal of accessibility of education to every single student becoming less of a dream and more of a reality in NUJS, we are proud to have moved towards inclusivity in association with IDIA which contributed to the funding for the Lab. IDIA is an initiative that was started by beloved NUJS professor Late Dr. Shamnad Basheer.
To celebrate the first anniversary of the Accessibility Lab, IDIA WB CHAPTER and SJA have decided to work together for the creation of an open-access platform for all Specially Abled Students, across all law schools in India. Though, at a nascent stage the initiative seeks to provide any sort of assistance to these students, while working closely with the authorities in these law schools, and aims to promote inclusivity. This is a humble attempt to go one step further in making legal studies inclusive beyond our own campus.
We look forward to continue moving on the path of equal opportunities to all.
