National Evaluation Conference On The Success of GST @ 5

(Held between 20th-22nd January 2023)


The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), in collaboration with the All India Federation of Tax Practitioners (AIFTP) Eastern Zone, with the support of the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of January 2023 organized the National Evaluation Conference On The Success of GST @ 5. Considering that the year 2023 marks five years since the Goods and Services Tax was introduced in the country in 2017, NUJS though its Centre For Financial and Regulatory Governance Studies (CFRGS) organized the GST Conclave with the purpose of enabling dialogue amongst eminent tax practitioners, lawyers, academicians and policy makers from all over the country on the scheme of implementation of GST over the last five years. The GST Conclave also marks the endeavor of the Center For Financial and Regulatory Governance Studies in the pursuit of its mandate to undertake an interdisciplinary and collaborative mission and methodology for evaluating, discussing and recommending solutions and otherwise address the critical financial, regulatory and policy challenges of the day.




The Inaugural Session of GST Conclave was led by the keynote address by Dr. Amit Mitra, the Principal Chief Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister and Former Finance Minister of the State of West Bengal as the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) NK Chakrabarti, Vice Chancellor NUJS, inaugural address was delivered Shri. S Ramesh IRS (Retd.), Former CBIC Chairperson, Adv. Pankaj Ghyia, AIFTP President.


Speaking to the Media, Mr. Vivek Agarwal, National Vice President AIFTP and Prof. Vaneeta Patnaik, Director CFRGS NUJS said, “The main purpose of this conclave is to travel the journey of path breaking taxation law GST in the first Five years of its implementation. There are eminent speakers from across the country who will deliberate on the Design, working and law of GST. The speakers will guide the participants regarding the various changes made in GST law since inception.


Further they informed that this conclave is a unique one being held as all the stake holders will be under the same roof, i.e., tax payers, (industry), tax practitioners and the government officers. Further they informed that as all the stake holders will be there the problems under the GST law will sorted out.
