On March 18, 2023 the NUJS Intellectual Property and Technology Laws Society (IPTLS) and Centre for Law and Technology held a Panel Discussion on the “Interaction between AI and Law”.
Hoping to take forward the discourse on this extremely relevant area, NUJS hosted four esteemed panelists from different fields to give attendees insight into the topic. The panel consisted of NUJS Alumnus and Managing Associate at Anand & Anand, Mr. Vibhav Mithal, Founder of tech policy think tank The Dialogue Mr. Kazim Rizvi, Professor at TCG Crest, Mr. Prasenjit Majumdar and Partner at Argus Partners, Mr. Soorjya Ganguli. The Panel was moderated by Mr. Shouvik Kumar Guha, Associate Professor of Law at NUJS.
Among other things, the Panel discussed the breakthrough of ChatGPT, its biases, what it means for lawyers and the Indian legal system while also discussing the implications of AI for intellectual property and legal personhood. The discussion also delved into the implications and opportunities created through the active usage and engagement of AI in the legal field.
IPTLS has always been at the forefront of shaping relevant legal debates in the intellectual property and technology law space. In holding this panel discussion, we hope to take this initiative a step further and contribute to the growing discussion on the interaction between AI and law.
We thank the panelists for taking out time and contributing to this contemporary discourse. We hope to add further to the discourse regarding Intellectual Property and Technology in any manner possible.
